SOAR/Orientation

SOAR (Orientation) assists you with your transition to UNC Charlotte.

At SOAR, you will learn important information about the university and all of the services in place to promote your success.

Who Must Attend

  • All new, undergraduate students entering in the fall, spring, and summer II semesters must attend SOAR.
  • There is no SOAR program offered for students who are starting in summer I. However, it is mandatory for summer I students to meet with an academic advisor in order to register for classes.

About the Program

SOAR (Student Orientation and Academic Resources) is a required program that ensures that all new students have necessary information and resources to succeed in your transition to UNC Charlotte. The SOAR program consists of three parts:

  1. Pre-orientation modules, including required college and advising information
  2. Self-paced course registration
  3. In-person SOAR program

The in-person SOAR program includes sessions on history and tradition, academic requirements, and will participate in small group activities facilitated by Orientation Counselors.

SOAR for Parents, Families and Guests

Parents, families, and guests are welcome to attend SOAR to learn about campus resources, engage in family traditions, and support their students. While many family sessions are held separately from students, there will be several opportunities for students and their families to engage throughout the day.

All students, parents, families, and guests are required to register for SOAR through the Future 49er Portal.
