Pronouns

UNC Charlotte is dedicated to welcoming and serving students of all backgrounds and fostering a working environment where all employees feel welcomed and respected. We recognize that a legal name or assigned sex isn’t always a good fit for everyone, and that there are many reasons one might use a name, gender identity, or pronouns that is different from their legal name or assigned sex.

About Pronouns

Pronouns take the place of a noun (person, place, or thing) and are used in everyday speaking and writing. We strive to create a personal experience by providing opportunities for every member of our community to get to know each other better.

  • One of the many ways we are doing this is by allowing you to share your “personal pronouns” which can be used, in emails, in classrooms, and in everyday conversation.
  • We appreciate your patience as we are rolling out this functionality across the multiple systems on campus.

We encourage you to make your pronoun selections!

Where will my information be displayed?

Your information is used or planned for use in several ways. For a complete list of these systems, communications, both current and planned, please visit the Know Me Project. There are no planned displays of gender identity at this time.
