Financial Aid & Student Housing

Helping you understand your housing options and how your financial aid can support your expenses.

On-Campus Housing

Living on campus helps you build your foundation for success at Charlotte. Your financial aid is automatically applied to housing charges shown on your billing statement. Please note, you are responsible for paying out of pocket for any deposits or application fees.

Off-Campus Housing

We recognize students are faced with tough decisions about where to live and off-campus housing may be part of your college experience. If choosing to live off campus, you are responsible for paying rent to your landlord, which may include fees due before the start of the term. You have the option to use your financial aid refund (if applicable) to help cover your rent.

Living at Home

We also recognize that for some students, the option of continuing to live at home may make the most sense for where you are at in your college experience. You have the option to use your financial aid refund (if applicable) to help cover expenses assoicated with housing and commuting.

Refunds

What is a financial aid refund?

Financial aid refunds are issued if the total amount of financial aid awarded for the semester is greater than the charges on your student account. Learn more about financial aid refunds here.

How do I know if I will be receiving a refund?

If you are due a refund, you will see a negative balance on your account before the refund is processed. A negative balance means you received more financial aid for the semester than the charges shown on your student account. Learn more about financial aid refunds here.
